Dr. Nita Shala is the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Rome (since September 2024), accredited to the Italian Republic, the Republic of Malta and the Republic of San Marino, and a Professor of Law at the University of Prishtina. Since her first professional experience in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Dr Shala has been involved in advisory and executive roles on important legislative and public-policy reforms in Albania and Kosova. She has served as Advisor to the Albanian Minister of Interior, Ambassador at the United Nations Office in Geneva, and to the Albanian Parliament, and has advised in multiple technical-assistance assignments supporting governments, parliaments, and the judiciary on legal matters. In Kosova, Dr. Shala has served as Deputy Minister of Justice and National Coordinator against Domestic Violence. In these roles, she has drafted legal acts and strategies, and policy and academic papers.
Dr Shala is the Founding Curator of Global Shapers Community in Albania, an initiative of the World Economic Forum; Ambassador for Global Dignity in Kosova and Albania, an initiative of the Crown Prince of Norway; Responsible Leader of the BMW Foundation; and member of the New Voices Council of Apolitical Foundation.
Dr. Shala received her Doctorate in Law from the Graduate Institute in Geneva, completed MSc studies in Criminology at the University of Oxford, LLM studies in International Cooperation at the University of Teramo, and BA studies in Law at the University of Prishtina. She also completed Executive Education at Harvard University. Dr Shala is fluent in Albanian, English, Italian and French.
Dr. Nita Shala është Ambasadore e Republikës së Kosovës në Romë (që nga shtatori 2024), e akredituar në Republikën Italiane, Republikën e Maltës dhe Republikën e San Marinos, dhe Profesoreshë e së Drejtës në Universitetin e Prishtinës. Që nga përvoja e parë profesionale në Zyrën e Prokurorit në Tribunalin e Hagës për Krime në ish-Jugosllavi, Dr Shala ka qenë e përfshirë në detyra këshilluese dhe ekzekutive për reformat e rëndësishme legjislative dhe të politikave publike në Shqipëri dhe në Kosovë. Ka shërbyer si këshilltare e Ministrit të Brendshëm të Republikës së Shqipërisë, në Ambasadën Shqiptare pranë Zyrës së Kombeve të Bashkuara në Gjenevë dhe në Kuvendin e Shqipërisë. Ka punuar gjithashtu në asistencë teknike për mbështetje institucionale të qeverive, parlamenteve dhe gjyqësorit. Në Republikën e Kosovës, Dr Shala ka shërbyer si zëvendësministre e Drejtësisë dhe njëkohësisht Koordinatore Kombëtare kundër Dhunës në Familje. Gjatë këtyre përvojave ka qenë pjesë e hartimit të projektligjeve, akteve nënligjore, strategjive dhe ka shkruar hulumtime akademike dhe politika publike.
Dr Shala është Themeluese e Komunitetit Global Shapers në Shqipëri, një iniciativë e Forumit Ekonomik Botëror; Ambasadore për Global Dignity në Kosovë dhe Shqipëri, iniciativë e Princit të Kurorës së Norvegjisë; Drejtuese e Përgjegjshme e Fondacionit BMW; dhe anëtare e Këshillit të Zërave të Rinj të Fondacionit Apolitical.
Dr. Shala ka doktoruar në drejtësi në Graduate Institute në Gjenevë, ka përfunduar studimet master në Kriminologji në Universitetin e Oksfordit, studimet LL.M. në Bashkëpunim Ndërkombëtar në Universitetin e Teramos dhe studimet bachelor në Drejtësi në Universitetin e Prishtinës. Ka përfunduar gjithashtu Edukimin Ekzekutiv në Universitetin e Harvardit. Dr Shala flet rrjedhshëm shqip, anglisht, italisht dhe frëngjisht.
